Advice For Movie Producers

This morning my 6-year-old daughter was fired-up about movies and demanded I tell the “people” who make them what they are doing wrong.
According to Madison, she is sick of watching sad movies. She told me, “Mom, life is sad enough, why do I want to watch a movie that makes me cry?”
She recently watched ‘Bambi’ and the cartoon movie, ‘Two Brothers’ and cried during both.
Madison was not kidding. She said people need a good laugh and to feel good when watching movies. Maddy was adamant that something be done to stop those type of movies from being made.
I can’t say I disagree with her. Who wants to spend money to leave depressed?
So, for all the movie producers out there, please consider this input from a bright little girl who wants people to feel happy, not sad.

Something to Think About

I read a quote today that will change the way I interact with strangers and acquaintances. I always try to be polite and warm, but I am sure I can do better. The quote said,

Be nice and smile to everyone you meet. You don’t know what they are going through and may need that smile and treasure it.

This is just a little food for thought as we get ready to start a new work week. You never know whose path we will cross or what the day will bring.

Holiday Rush

We are still more than a month away from Christmas, but you wouldn’t know it when you are shopping or listening to the radio. I actually heard holiday music on the radio today. It seems the holidays pop-up in stores earlier and earlier every year. Personally, it doesn’t put me in the holiday mood any earlier. I actually feel like it’s being rushed. It is hard to think about Christmas, when you just got done passing out Halloween candy. When I was younger, I always looked forward to Thanksgiving because I knew Christmas was right around the corner. Now, my 6-year-old sees Christmas decorations in the stores in October and wants to know I haven’t put our tree or decorated the house yet. What do you think? Should stores wait until Thanksgiving to decorate and start the holiday push or do it in October like they did this year?

Weathering The Storm

Sometimes things happen in life that are hard to understand. Life changing events that are out of our control. I’ve been told that these unexplained bumps have a purpose and help us grow as individuals. Is it wrong during these times to want to hit the fast forward button and see what the life lesson is? Is it wrong to also want to throw the covers over your head and forget the world around you? I have decided to put my chin up, lean on my family and friends and block out the negativity. In the meantime, I will be looking for the light at the end of this long dark tunnel.

Giving Thanks

The older I get, I realize how time whizzes by. It is hard to believe my girls are 6 1/2 and 4. Where did the time go? Everyday, life gets a little more crazy and you forget to take a moment and give thanks for the small things that make your life complete. You never know day to day what the next minute holds. So today, one week before Thanksgiving, I am giving thanks for my family, job, friends and my health.

Cleveland’s Crazy Weather

There is a saying, “If you don’t like the weather in Cleveland, give it 5 minutes it will change.” Boy is that saying spot on today. Just a few days ago, parts of Northeast Ohio were digging out from several inches of snow. Over the weekend, we were basking in mild, above normal temperatures. Now, just 24 hours later, we have had rain, sleet, and tornado warnings pop-up throughout the viewing area.
Talk about a wild weather roller coaster ride!
I am not going to complain. What’s the point? The weather is going to change in 5 minutes.

4-legged Danger and Old Man Winter

4-legged Danger and Old Man Winter

There are two things that make me uptight behind the wheel, deer and old man winter.

Unfortunately, both have arrived in Northeast Ohio.

Yes, one would think after 10 plus years of making this commute to Cleveland that I would be used to both the deer and the snow, but I am not.

I think the older I get, the more I resent both.

Don’t get me wrong. They are both beautiful to look at, when I am safe inside my home.

My whole perception changes the second I get behind the wheel.

So, what am I doing to prepare for my “archenemies?”

I have bought deer whistles for my car, ( are they a false sense of security for me? Probably, but I will try anything.)

I also will put my big monster (dodge nitro heat) in 4-wheel drive and hold onto the wheel for dear life.

If all else fails, my husband knows to be on standby to pick me up 🙂
